Minister for Social Equality and Women's Advancement, Mai Golan, appeared for questioning under warning at the Lahav 433 unit offices in Lod on Wednesday. The questioning is part of "The Money Affair," which involves suspicions of aggravated bribery, fraud, breach of trust, and submitting false affidavits against Golan. Police sources indicated that evidence exists to support an indictment against her.

Last June, police announced the conclusion of their investigation and forwarded the case to the State Prosecutor's Office for a decision on indictment. The prosecution requested additional investigative actions, leading to Golan's summons for further questioning. Golan, who had previously avoided appearing for questioning despite multiple summonses, was given another opportunity to present her account of the suspicions.

The investigation, which began in September 2025, focuses on allegations that employees of the Ministry for Social Equality were involved in fraudulent schemes, misuse of public funds for private purposes, fictitious employment, and concealing funding sources through non-profits and government systems for illicit fund extraction.

When the investigation became public in September 2025, raids were conducted on the minister's offices in Jerusalem, and six associates were arrested. These included Golan's advisor Adi Hodfi-Biton, Elad Ohana, Inbal Gabay, former Migdal HaEmek council member Haim Menachem, and Golan's former parliamentary advisor Ehud Gabay. At the time, Golan stated that the arrested individuals' only offense was their association with her.

Golan's mother, Rimona, was also investigated. She was summoned to provide answers regarding documents and assets registered in her name. After initial difficulties in contacting her, she eventually appeared at the police station. However, she reportedly left the premises during a restroom break, with her daughter, Minister Golan, arriving to escort her away while shouting at the officers.
