A magnitude 3.4 earthquake was felt in Israel's Arava region on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Geological Survey. The tremor was also perceived in other parts of the country. Reports from Jordan indicate the light earthquake was felt there as well, with the Jordanian Geological Survey measuring its magnitude at 3. This event follows a previous earthquake on August 3 near the Dead Sea, which was also felt across Israel. That tremor's epicenter was located in Egypt, approximately 38 kilometers from Suez, at a depth of about 10 kilometers. Google earthquake alerts were received in Israel for that event. Users reported feeling that earthquake in central Israel, including in Beer Yaakov, Rehovot, and Ganei Tikva. Earlier, on May 24, an earthquake with an initial estimated magnitude of 3.5 occurred near the Sea of Galilee. No injuries or damage were reported from that incident. On April 6, an earthquake was felt in northern Israel, primarily along the western coastal plain from Haifa to Nahariya. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) and Israel's Geological Institute reported that earthquake as a magnitude 4.5 tremor at a depth of 10 kilometers in the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of Tyre and Sidon in southern Lebanon. No casualties or damage were reported from the April event.
