Israel Police have finalized preparations for the annual pilgrimage to Rachel's Tomb, known as the "Hilulat Rachel Imeinu," which is expected to draw thousands of participants on Wednesday and Thursday. Jerusalem District Commander Absalom Peled has approved operational plans aimed at ensuring the safety and security of attendees and maintaining public order.
Extensive police and Border Police (Magav) forces, along with numerous volunteers, will be deployed around the tomb and adjacent routes to secure the event, direct traffic, and provide rapid operational responses. Efforts will be made to minimize disruption to daily life in the area.
Significant traffic changes will be in effect. Key roads, including Rosemary Junction from Begin Boulevard, the turn from Route 60, Ma'aleh Derech from Har Homa, and the entrance to Rachel's Tomb from Rosemary Junction, will be closed to traffic. Streets around Teddy Stadium will also be closed. These closures will be in place from 3:00 PM on Wednesday until 2:00 AM Thursday, and from 12:00 PM to midnight on Thursday.
To facilitate public access, a shuttle service will operate between Teddy Stadium and the pilgrimage site. Police are advising attendees to park at the stadium and use the shuttles, and to avoid private vehicles near the closures. They also recommend checking Waze for updates and following instructions from officers and ushers.
