In a significant milestone for the integration of Haredim into the IDF, 15 cadets were commissioned as officers after completing the Hasmonean Brigade's first-ever officer's course. The eight-month training program, held in Jerusalem, included combat and command studies, alongside operational activities in Lebanon and Judea and Samaria.

The graduation ceremony took place on the rooftop of Yeshivat Hakotel in Jerusalem. Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir met with the graduates, congratulating them on their achievement and emphasizing the importance of this step for integrating the Haredi public into the military. "You are making history and breaking new ground," Zamir stated, recognizing the Haredi community as an "integral part of Israeli society."

Zamir highlighted the brigade's operational capabilities, noting that the new officers are already involved in combat missions and will be deployed for both defensive and offensive operations, including ground maneuvers. He stressed their role in developing the Hasmonean Brigade into a strong infantry unit capable of fulfilling all assigned tasks.

The training was conducted under the professional supervision of the IDF's Officer Training School, with service conditions adapted to the Haredi lifestyle. This included maintaining strict kosher standards, prayer times, Torah study, and a gender-segregated environment, in accordance with IDF directives for Haredi integration.

The newly commissioned officers are expected to assume command positions within the brigade, leading operational activities in various sectors. The IDF views this as a crucial step in building a Haredi command echelon to support the Hasmonean Brigade's development as an operational infantry unit. Recruitment for the next officer's course, scheduled to begin in November, has already commenced.
