4-Year-Old Girl in Critical Condition After Scorpion Sting in Southern Israel

A 4-year-old girl was rushed on Wednesday evening to Soroka Medical Center in critical, unstable condition after apparently being stung by a scorpion near Kseife. Hospital trauma teams are fighting for her life. She arrived with vomiting, excessive salivation, and a sharp drop in blood pressure, and remained unstable even after medication was given to stabilize her blood pressure.

Magen David Adom paramedics provided emergency treatment at the scene and evacuated her in an intensive care ambulance. Senior MDA medic Yarin Rotfus said, "When we arrived, they brought the girl to us conscious and suffering from symptoms of a scorpion sting. We immediately understood that her condition was critical and began life-saving medical treatment."

The case is the second severe scorpion sting in the south in less than 24 hours. On Tuesday night, a 44-year-old man from the Bedouin diaspora was also evacuated in serious condition to Soroka after apparently being stung near Arad. He arrived at a clinic vomiting and salivating, likely after a sting from a yellow scorpion, and a source familiar with the details said it was a life-threatening condition that could deteriorate rapidly.

By Wednesday, the man's condition had improved, and after extensive tests he was discharged home. The girl, however, remained in serious, unstable condition at Soroka as of the latest update.
