A 4-year-old girl was rushed to Soroka Medical Center on Wednesday evening in critical, unstable condition after what was believed to be a scorpion sting near Kseife. She was taken in by Magen David Adom teams after receiving emergency treatment at the scene, and the hospital’s trauma staff are now fighting for her life.
According to a source familiar with the case, the child arrived vomiting, drooling, and with a drop in blood pressure. Doctors gave her medication to stabilize her blood pressure, but her condition remained unstable. A senior MDA medic, Yarin Rotfus, said, "When we arrived, they brought us the girl while she was conscious and suffering from scorpion sting symptoms. We immediately understood her condition was critical and began lifesaving medical treatment."
The incident was the second severe scorpion sting in the south in less than 24 hours. On Tuesday night, a 44-year-old man from the Bedouin diaspora was taken in serious condition to Soroka after what was believed to be a sting in the Arad area, likely by a yellow scorpion. A source said he arrived at a clinic vomiting and drooling, and warned, "This is a life-threatening situation that can deteriorate rapidly."
After extensive tests, the man’s condition improved and he was discharged home on Wednesday. The girl remained hospitalized in serious condition as of publication.
