Israeli travel blogger survives getting lost in Chilean park, keeps chasing remote adventures

Opal Sarur, 22, a travel blogger from Haifa, says she came close to death after getting lost in southern Chile’s Conguillío National Park while hiking with a friend. At sunset, her phone had run out of battery, the marked trail disappeared, and she and her companion were stranded on steep terrain near hidden ice caves they had detoured to find. “It was the closest thing to death I’ve experienced,” she told ynet. They eventually used photos on the friend’s partially charged phone to retrace their route, found stone cairns marking the path, and were able to descend when a full moon came out.
