Amazon has unveiled three new tablets, the Amazon Alexa Tablet series, marking its first Android-based tablets with full access to the Google Play Store. These devices, available for purchase immediately, start at $229.99. Previously, Amazon's Fire tablets ran on Fire OS with a proprietary app store. The adoption of Android and its comprehensive store allows for a wider range of applications, including YouTube, Netflix, Gmail, and Google Docs, alongside Amazon's own services like Prime Video and Kindle.
The tablet line includes the Alexa Tablet 8 with an 8.7-inch screen, priced at $229.99, featuring an octa-core processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a battery lasting up to 14 hours of video playback. The mid-tier Alexa Tablet 11 boasts a 2.5K, 90Hz display, 8GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a 15-hour video battery life, retailing for $329.99. The top-tier Alexa Tablet 12 Pro offers a 12-inch, 120Hz screen, a 4nm octa-core processor, up to 16GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and a 16-hour video battery life, with prices starting at $499.99 and reaching $549.99 for the Nanomatte screen version. Amazon states these battery figures are internal estimates.
Integrated into all devices is the Alexa+ assistant, accessible from the home screen. New features include On-Screen Intelligence, which allows Alexa to analyze screen content for relevant assistance, and Live Sessions for wordless conversations. Amazon emphasizes that these features are opt-in and include visual indicators when active.
Optional accessories for the larger model include a Pro Keyboard ($149.99) and Pro Pen ($89.99), positioning it as a device for productivity and creativity as well as media consumption.
Shipping begins October 14, 2026, in the US, Mexico, and Canada, and October 19 in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain, available through Amazon and retailers like Best Buy and Target. Availability and pricing in Israel were not announced, with potential additional costs for taxes and shipping if purchased from abroad.
