IDF Confirms Killing Hamas Commander Involved in Holding 9 Hostages
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Sunday the elimination of a Hamas military wing commander, Muhammad Hamad Muhammad Jabein, in a joint operation with the Shin Bet security agency. The strike occurred last Tuesday in the northern Gaza Strip. According to the IDF, Jabein was involved in holding nine Israeli hostages since the start of the war. The hostages were identified as Ziv Berman, Eitan Mor, Liri Albag, Agam Berger, Matan Angrest, Gali Berman, Omri Miran, Keith Segal, and Alon Ahl.
The IDF stated that Jabein had recently been advancing terror plans against IDF forces and Israeli civilians and was working to restore Hamas's capabilities, systematically violating the ceasefire. The strike was carried out by air to neutralize the threat he posed. Forces under the Southern Command are deployed in the area and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threats.
