Ex-Player Schechter Reveals Maccabi Tel Aviv Talks with Forward Kais Ghanem

Former Israeli footballer Itay Schechter revealed on the "Olim LaRegel" podcast that Maccabi Tel Aviv had been in negotiations with forward Kais Ghanem earlier this year. The club was seeking an Israeli striker following the departure of Seyd Habouchi and had also considered Alon Turgeman and Guy Melamed.

Schechter explained that while discussions with Ghanem took place, the move ultimately did not materialize due to contractual issues. "There were talks, but things didn't quite work out, and he has a contract in Tiberias," Schechter stated.

Ghanem, who has been linked with several top Israeli clubs in the past, is currently enjoying a strong start to the season with Hapoel Tiberias, having scored three league goals and three in the Toto Cup. He signed a one-year contract with an option for an additional season this past summer.

Schechter commented on Ghanem's potential, noting that "there is something about him that many coaches like." He added, "Maccabi Tel Aviv was indeed interested and spoke [with him], but it didn't mature into a deal. Don't be surprised if you see him at one of the big clubs."
