Maccabi Tel Aviv Held Talks With Striker Kais Ghanem

Maccabi Tel Aviv was in negotiations to sign Israeli striker Kais Ghanem earlier this year, according to former player Itay Shechter. Ghanem was one of several Israeli forwards the club considered after Seyed Oweis left, with Alon Turgeman and Guy Melamed also reportedly on their radar.

Shechter revealed on the "Olim LaRegel" podcast that Ghanem had been in discussions with Maccabi Tel Aviv, but the deal ultimately did not materialize due to contractual issues. "There were talks, but things didn't quite work out, and he has a contract in Tiberias," Shechter explained.

Shechter praised Ghanem's potential, noting that "there's something about him that many coaches like." He added that while Maccabi Tel Aviv was interested and engaged in conversations, the move "didn't mature into a deal." Shechter suggested that Ghanem might still end up at one of Israel's top clubs.

Ghanem has had a strong start to the current season, scoring three league goals and three goals in the Toto Cup. He signed a one-year contract with an option for an additional season with his current club in the summer.
