Macklemore Announces "Free Palestine" Tour After Controversy

American rapper Macklemore has announced a new concert tour titled "Free Palestine," with all proceeds dedicated to supporting Palestinians. This initiative follows his exclusion from British singer Ed Sheeran's U.S. tour weeks prior, a decision reportedly linked to Macklemore's vocal support for the Palestinian cause, which had generated controversy.

The tour is set to commence with three European dates: Dublin on October 26, Paris on October 29, and London on October 30. Additional dates in the United States and other countries, along with the names of participating artists, will be announced later.

According to organizers, the revenue from the concerts will be distributed among 12 organizations focused on humanitarian aid, medical care, and education. These include Anera, Gaza Soup Kitchen, Medical Aid for Palestinians, and the Palestine Children's Relief Fund, as well as other groups involved in advocacy and media.

Macklemore stated that the recent controversy surrounding his stance prompted him to consider the role of artistic platforms in public issues. He mentioned consulting with artists who share his views before launching the new tour. This tour is a continuation of a series of events, beginning with the debate over his potential participation in Sheeran's tour, followed by several artists withdrawing in solidarity with Macklemore. He later pledged $1 million of his profits to organizations aiding Palestinians, and a mural honoring his stance was created by artists in Gaza.
