John DiBartolomeo Agrees to Two More Years with Maccabi Tel Aviv
Maccabi Tel Aviv captain John DiBartolomeo has agreed a new two-year contract and will stay with the club next season, ending recent uncertainty about his future. The deal was reported on Sunday, June 21, 2026, after he had not yet celebrated another championship with the team that night.
The club had made keeping DiBartolomeo a major goal for the summer, according to club executive Claudio Coldebella. DiBartolomeo turned 34 on Saturday and is about to finish his ninth season with Maccabi, which will now become his 10th. He will become only the 17th player in club history to reach double-digit seasons.
DiBartolomeo first came to Israel in June 2015 to play for Maccabi Haifa. After two strong seasons there, he moved to Maccabi Tel Aviv, and by his second season with the team he was named captain after Itai Sheleg was removed from the role.
This season, the guard averaged 7.9 points, more than 40 percent shooting from three-point range, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.2 steals in 19.8 minutes per game.
