John DiBartolomeo has finalized a two-year extension with Maccabi Tel Aviv, ending uncertainty over his future and ensuring he will stay with the club next season. The team captain did not celebrate another championship on Sunday night, but the deal keeps him in yellow for at least two more seasons.
According to Sport5, Maccabi made retaining DiBartolomeo a priority for the summer. He turned 34 on Saturday and is close to completing his ninth season with the club. He will now enter a 10th season, becoming the 17th player in Maccabi Tel Aviv history to reach double-digit seasons with the team.
DiBartolomeo originally arrived in Israel in June 2015 to play for Maccabi Haifa. After two strong seasons there, he moved to Maccabi Tel Aviv, and in his second season with the club he was appointed captain after Itay Segev was removed from the role.
This season, the guard averaged 7.9 points per game, shot better than 40% from three-point range, added 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists, and recorded 1.2 steals in 19.8 minutes per game.
