ראש הישיבה הגאון רבי דוד לנדו, רבה של בני ברק, קיים את מנהג הכפרות בעיר בני ברק לקראת יום הכיפורים. המנהג, הנערך בערב יום הכיפורים, כולל סיבוב תרנגולת מעל ראשו של אדם, תוך אמירת פיוט מיוחד, ולאחר מכן התרנגולת נשחטת ונמסרת לצדקה.

מנהג הכפרות הוא אחד ממנהגי הסליחות הנאמרים בימים הנוראים, והוא נועד לסמל את כפרת עוונותיו של האדם. הרב לנדו, הנחשב לאחד מגדולי הפוסקים בדורנו, הקפיד על קיום המנהג כפי שנהג אביו, הרב יצחק לנדא זצ"ל, שהיה רבה של בני ברק לפניו.
