Family of Yimano Zalka Slams Suspected Killer’s House Arrest Celebration

Public outrage erupted after a photo surfaced of one of the main suspects in the murder of Yimano Zalka on Independence Day, apparently celebrating while under house arrest. The image, published by Daniel Amram, shows the suspect sitting with several friends at home with alcohol bottles and food on the table.

Yeros Zalka, Yimano’s sister, lashed out during a live interview at what she described as the system’s failure. She said the image sends a deadly message that it is possible to murder and still receive state backing. “The message reaching the public is that now I can beat anyone, stab anyone, murder anyone, and I will get backing from the systems of Israel, whether it is the prosecution, the judges, or the police. That is the message,” she said on the program “The Morning World.”

She also said she was “shocked that the prosecution does not represent my brother” and doubted it represents Israeli society at all. Zalka directed sharp criticism at the prosecution, judges and police, saying they are failing to protect law-abiding citizens and do not represent victims or the wider public.

To underscore her anger, she compared the case to atrocities “seen in the Holocaust” and on October 7, asking, “So how are they releasing such boys?” She stressed that the case is not about one killer but about “16 killers,” saying anyone who reads the indictments knows that. Zalka called on the public to attend hearings and demand justice, saying the family cannot properly grieve because it must devote all its strength to a draining legal battle to ensure Yimano’s death was not in vain.
