Sister of Murdered Teen Yimno Zalka Supports Detention Extension of Suspect

Yiros Zalka, the older sister of the late Yimno Zalka, spoke out following the court's decision to extend the detention of the main suspect in her brother's murder. In an interview on Tuesday, she emphasized that "murder is murder, regardless of age," highlighting concerns about the normalization of youth crime. She praised the court's ruling as a validation of the public pressure her family has been applying in the months since the tragic event.

Yimno Zalka was murdered about three months ago, and Yiros stressed the importance of keeping the case in public consciousness. She described her family's ongoing efforts to raise awareness and fight violence, including educational initiatives targeting youth, soldiers, and community groups. One recent project involved a balloon release in collaboration with the "Sahi" organization, intended to honor her brother's legacy and promote nonviolence.

The court extended the detention of the juvenile suspect until the conclusion of legal proceedings, citing sufficient evidence to justify continued custody. Yiros expressed determination to continue both the legal and social campaigns to combat youth violence and seek justice for her brother.
