New Player Faces Disciplinary Hearing for Praising Opponent
Edmund Asanta, a new acquisition for Hapoel Petah Tikva, will face a disciplinary hearing after posting and then deleting supportive messages for rival team Hapoel Tel Aviv on Instagram. The incident occurred following Hapoel Tel Aviv's decisive 3-0 victory over Hapoel Petah Tikva on Friday.
Asanta, a 19-year-old Ghanaian midfielder, was not included in the squad for the match. Despite his team's disappointment with the loss, he shared two Instagram stories praising Hapoel Tel Aviv players. One story featured a celebration of the first goal by Emmanuel Boateng, and another showed Douglas Owusu during warm-ups, both accompanied by supportive emojis.
He later removed the posts from his account. The club has confirmed that Asanta will be summoned before a disciplinary committee for his actions.
