New Player Faces Discipline for Praising Opponent on Social Media
Edmond Asanta, a new acquisition for Hapoel Petah Tikva, will face a disciplinary hearing after posting and then deleting complimentary content about the opposing team, Hapoel Tel Aviv, on his Instagram account. Hapoel Tel Aviv defeated Hapoel Petah Tikva 3-0 earlier on Friday, continuing their poor start to the season. Asanta, a 19-year-old Ghanaian midfielder, was not included in the squad for the match. Despite his team's disappointment, Asanta shared two Instagram stories praising Hapoel Tel Aviv players. One story featured a celebration of the first goal by Emmanuel Boateng, and another showed Douglas Owusu during warm-ups, both accompanied by supportive emojis. He subsequently removed the posts. The disciplinary committee's decision is pending.
