זקן מועצת גדולי התורה וראש ישיבה, הרב אהרן יהודה לייב שטינמן, בדק היום (יום חמישי) לולבים לקראת חג הפסח. בני ביתו סיפרו כי "חיבוב המצווה נשאר כמו כל השנים", וזאת למרות שהשנה מצוות הלולב אינה דאורייתא (מצווה מהתורה), אלא דרבנן (מצווה מדברי חכמים).

הבדיקה, שנעשתה על ידי הרב שטינמן, כללה התייחסות למראה הלולבים, שלמותם ואיכותם, כפי שנהוג בכל שנה לקראת החג. הדברים נאמרו על ידי בני ביתו, אשר הדגישו את ההקפדה על קיום המצווה כהלכתה, גם כאשר מעמדה ההלכתי שונה.
