A senior American official said overnight that White House envoy Steve Witkoff is on his way to Switzerland, where the first round of talks with Iran is expected to take place over a possible nuclear agreement. According to the official, Donald Trump’s other envoy, Jared Kushner, is already in Switzerland.

The report, given to N12 late Friday into Saturday, did not say when the talks will begin, but identified Switzerland as the likely venue for the opening round of contacts between the two sides. The article says the discussions are expected to focus on a possible nuclear deal.

Separately, a source familiar with the matter said Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is planning to travel to Switzerland today. That plan, however, could still change depending on developments in Lebanon.

The live update note also said that at 07:16 there were reports from Lebanon of a wave of Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon. The article was first published on N12.
