ברקע המתיחות הגוברת במפרץ הפרסי, התקיימה בשבוע שעבר בגרמניה ועידה סודית של מפקדים צבאיים בכירים מהאזור. את הוועידה אירח מפקד פיקוד מרכז של צבא ארה"ב, אדמירל בראד קופר.

בפגישה השתתפו הרמטכ"ל הישראלי, אייל זמיר, לצד מקביליו ממדינות ערב, ביניהן סעודיה, איחוד האמירויות, קטר, כווית, בחריין, ירדן ומצרים. פרטי הפסגה לא פורסמו, אך היא נערכה על רקע האתגרים הביטחוניים המשותפים באזור.
