Palestinian President Abbas Invited to Jordan Conference on Civilian Protection in War

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas received an official invitation from Jordanian King Abdullah II on Thursday to attend a high-level international conference titled "Preserving Humanity in War." The conference is scheduled to take place in Jordan in December. The invitation was extended during a meeting between Abbas and Jordan's Ambassador to Palestine, Issam Al-Badour, at the presidential headquarters in Ramallah. Abbas welcomed the invitation, expressing his keenness to attend, and conveyed his greetings to King Abdullah II through the ambassador. Abbas praised Jordan's consistent stance in supporting Palestinian rights and its efforts to bolster the Palestinian cause.

The conference, organized by Jordan in partnership with Brazil, China, Russia, Kazakhstan, and South Africa, aims to strengthen political commitment from nations and governments to adhere to the rules of war and international humanitarian law. The initiative is also being held in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross. The event seeks to address the escalating armed conflicts and the widespread human losses and suffering they inflict on civilians.
