Beitar Jerusalem Fined Heavily for Fan Pitch Invasion

Beitar Jerusalem has been fined 50,000 shekels by the Israeli Football Association's disciplinary court following a pitch invasion by fans during their match against Maccabi Netanya. The incident occurred after Beitar conceded a goal, prompting a group of supporters to rush onto the field in anger. Beitar players quickly intervened, urging the fans to return to the stands to de-escalate the situation.

The fine was broken down into three parts: 33,000 shekels for the pitch invasion by 11 fans which halted the game, 12,000 shekels for throwing 12 objects, and 5,000 shekels for an incident involving the assistant referee that also caused a game stoppage.

Despite the severity of the offenses, the disciplinary judge, Adv. Nir Smogor, decided against imposing a one-game ban on selling away tickets, a penalty sought by the association's prosecutor. This decision was made because Beitar Jerusalem accepted full responsibility for the actions and admitted guilt. The judge cited the early stage of the season and the club's acceptance of responsibility as reasons for leniency on the away ticket ban.
