Beitar Jerusalem Fined $50,000 for Fan Field Invasion
Beitar Jerusalem has been fined NIS 50,000 (approximately $13,500 USD) by the Israeli Football Association's disciplinary tribunal following a fan disturbance during a recent match against Maccabi Netanya. The incident occurred after Beitar conceded a goal, prompting a group of fans to invade the pitch in protest. Beitar players intervened, urging the fans to return to the stands.
The fine comprises NIS 33,000 for the pitch invasion by 11 fans, NIS 12,000 for throwing 12 objects, and NIS 5,000 for an incident involving the assistant referee that caused a game stoppage. The club accepted responsibility for the actions and pleaded guilty.
As a result of the club's acceptance of responsibility, the tribunal, presided over by attorney Nir Smogor, decided against imposing a one-game ban on selling away tickets, a penalty initially sought by the association's prosecutor. Smogor cited the early stage of the season and the club's accountability as reasons for this decision.
