תנועתו של הבכיר הפלסטיני מוחמד דחלאן הגיבה בזעם להאשמות שהועלו מצד הליכוד, לפיהן דחלאן עומד מאחורי פרסום ב'הארץ' אודות שיחת טלפון בין מנהיג האמירויות לראש הממשלה נתניהו. על פי הדיווח, בשיחה זו נטען כי נתניהו הוזהר. בתגובה, כינה דחלאן את ההאשמות "מסע הסתה מגוחך" ודחה כל קשר לפרסום. הליכוד טען כי דחלאן הוא זה שעומד מאחורי הפרסום, במטרה לפגוע ביחסים בין ישראל לאמירויות וביחסים בין נתניהו למנהיג האמירויות. הדיווח ב'הארץ' התבסס על גורמים מדיניים בישראל.
