לקראת הבחירות לכנסת, מספר מפלגות חדשות הגישו את רשימותיהן לוועדת הבחירות המרכזית. בין המפלגות שהגישו את רשימתן נמנות "שרשר המלך" ו"הפיראטים". מפלגות אלו, לצד "עלה ירוק", ידועות כמפלגות שמספקות "צבע" ועניין תקשורתי במהלך מערכות בחירות.
