Pirate Party and 'King Sharsher' Party Submit Knesset Election Lists

The Israeli Pirate Party submitted its list of 25 candidates for the upcoming 26th Knesset elections on Monday, marking its participation since 2013. Despite never approaching the electoral threshold, the party, part of an international movement, advocates for increased public participation through technology, governmental transparency, privacy, free speech, and intellectual property reform. Daniel Felber, a party representative, stated their goal is to enable citizens to influence decisions even during a Knesset term. Notably, behavioral economics professor Dan Ariely, a renowned Israeli researcher based at Duke University, is listed in third place on the Pirate Party's slate. Ariely, author of best-selling books on decision-making and irrational behavior, is making a surprising entry into politics.

Another unique party to submit its list was 'Sharsher for Love and Unity of the People,' led by Eitan Shvili, who styles himself 'King Sharsher.' Shvili arrived at the Knesset wearing a crown and robe, presenting a party focused on being the voice for those suffering from post-traumatic stress. Key issues highlighted by the party include support for combat veterans and their families, combating bullying among youth, and advancing life-saving medications. Shvili declared his intention to become the next prime minister and emphasized his aim to unite the nation.
