France Arrests Three Suspected of Plotting ISIS Defection and Attack

French authorities have arrested three men suspected of planning to join the Islamic State (ISIS) in Africa and carry out an attack against the Jewish community in France. The National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office (PNAT) stated that the individuals are under investigation for "association with a terrorist organization for the purpose of preparing terrorist acts."

The investigation, led by France's domestic intelligence service, began in early July after jihadi activity was detected within a WhatsApp group named "Soldiers of Allah." The three suspects were apprehended on Tuesday following intelligence gathered during the probe.

The group reportedly considered traveling to Africa to join ISIS ranks before shifting their focus to a potential attack within France. The specific targets and timeline of the alleged plot are still under investigation.
