French Intelligence Foils Deadly Terror Plot Against Jewish Community in Sarcelles

French internal intelligence services (DGSI) thwarted a potential terror attack targeting the large Jewish community in Sarcelles, a northern suburb of Paris, on the night of July 11, 2026. Authorities received precise intelligence about a suspicious vehicle possibly intended for violent use against Jews. Upon locating the vehicle near the local synagogue, police swiftly evacuated approximately 300 people from nearby cinemas and restaurants and established a wide security perimeter.

Bomb disposal experts conducted a controlled explosion on the vehicle shortly before midnight, uncovering a long firearm and a handgun described as "war weapons" in the car's trunk. Paris Police Chief Laurent Nunez confirmed these details in an interview with BFMTV, praising the rapid response of intelligence and police forces. A broad criminal investigation has been launched in coordination with the Interior Ministry.
