300 Evacuated Near Paris After Long Gun Found by Synagogue in Stolen Car
On Saturday evening in Sarcelles, north of Paris, approximately 300 people were evacuated after authorities discovered a long firearm in a stolen vehicle parked near a synagogue. The car, found around 9:30 p.m. on Henri-Dunant Street, was empty when police arrived. During a search of the trunk, officers found two weapons: a rifle loaded with seven bullets and a pistol loaded with ten bullets.
French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez announced on Sunday that an investigation has been launched to determine the motive behind the incident. He stated that the individuals involved have not yet been identified and emphasized that, while the weapons found are classified as "war weapons," there is currently no evidence to categorize the event as a terrorist act. Authorities evacuated people from nearby entertainment centers and several restaurants as a precautionary measure.
The investigation is ongoing as officials seek to clarify the circumstances and intent related to the discovery of the weapons near the synagogue.
