Brooklyn Beckham mocked his family rift in a DoorDash ad, and viewers blasted him

The story · English

Brooklyn Beckham, the estranged eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham, appeared in a new DoorDash commercial tied to the 2026 World Cup and made a thinly veiled joke about his family breakup. In the ad, he says, “You’re probably wondering why I’m watching the 2026 World Cup from home, it’s a long story,” a line clearly referring to his public fallout with his father and the wider Beckham family.

The attempt at humor quickly backfired. Viewers attacked him online, with comments including, “Because the leash isn’t long enough,” “Wow, that’s below the belt,” and a swipe at his marriage to Nicola Peltz: “Did you have to ask your wife if you’re allowed to do this? Blink three times, Brooklyn.”

A Beckham family source told the Daily Mail that the family was deeply hurt. “To make an ad based on a family rift as if it were a joke? While his family is devastated, his sister and grandparents are completely broken, this is shocking,” the source said. The source added, “Especially from someone who claims he wants peace and privacy.”

The backlash also revived older tensions. In January, Brooklyn posted a series of Instagram stories blaming the Beckham family for valuing public promotion and sponsorships over everything else, saying the “Beckham brand” decides all and that family “love” is measured by how much someone posts or is willing to drop obligations for a family photo. The article notes that the ad appeared after Brooklyn had insisted his parents stop discussing the rift publicly and stop posting claims about him or his wife on social media.
