NBA player Deni Avdija has broken his silence following Israel's elimination from the FIBA World Cup qualifiers and the ensuing criticism he faced for not participating in the recent games. In a detailed Instagram story posted on Monday, Avdija addressed the accusations, explaining the reasons behind his decision.

Avdija stated that he has consistently prioritized playing for the national team, even when injured or facing personal career risks, such as playing in a contract year. He emphasized that his commitment to representing Israel has always been paramount.

Regarding his absence from the latest games, Avdija revealed he was dealing with a complex back injury that made playing impossible. He clarified that the decision not to participate was not solely his own, as his NBA team, the Portland Trail Blazers, would not permit him to play due to health concerns. "In the situation that was created, I simply did not have the option to play," he explained.
