Police Arrest Additional Suspect in Caucasus Mafia Boss Murder

Israeli police on Tuesday arrested another suspect in connection with the assassination of Yanis Yushbayev, believed to be the head of the Caucasus mafia. Yushbayev was shot and killed two weeks ago at a gas station near Caesarea. The main suspect, identified as a known property offender, was apprehended shortly after the murder, having been captured on security cameras shooting Yushbayev in the back of the head. Police believe the primary suspect did not act alone and had accomplices. Yushbayev, 45, from Or Akiva, was fatally shot on August 23rd as he was leaving a restaurant at the gas station. Paramedics attempted resuscitation and transported him to Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera, where he was pronounced dead. The main suspect has denied involvement in the murder during questioning. His attorney, Yaron Shomron, stated that his client maintains his innocence and believes the picture will become clearer in the coming days, leading to his client's release, noting that the court significantly reduced the requested detention period.
