Umm Al-Fahm Hosts Inaugural Science Festival with Wide Engagement
The first-ever Science Festival, organized by the Umm Al-Fahm Community Center and Municipality, concluded last Saturday after several days of scientific experiments, interaction, and discovery. The event attracted a large turnout of children, students, and families, aiming to blend science with fun, entertainment, and creativity.
Throughout the festival, the Community Center transformed into an interactive scientific space, offering participants a hands-on approach to learning science through observation and direct engagement, moving away from traditional methods. The festival featured 12 interactive scientific stations covering diverse topics such as space, microscopy, colors, physics, virtual reality, matter transformation, future professions, marine life, and molecular gastronomy, alongside a "Science Magic" show and interactive quizzes with prizes.
The closing day was marked by excitement, with a live electronic raffle distributing 100 symbolic gifts to participants who engaged with at least five scientific stations. This initiative aimed to recognize and encourage participants' involvement. Daily, approximately 20 gifts were also distributed to eligible participants during the festival.
In recognition of volunteerism, student volunteers who assisted in organizing and running the festival were honored with certificates of appreciation for their efforts and dedication. A delegation from the Umm Al-Fahm Municipality, led by Mayor Dr. Samir, visited the festival, observing the scientific activities and the positive public response.
The festival is part of the Community Center's broader mission to provide educational, cultural, recreational, and sports programs for the city's youth, filling their free time with valuable activities that foster skills and enjoyment. The center aims to create a continuous system of programs that allow residents to learn, discover talents, and develop abilities in a safe and positive environment.
The Science Festival successfully presented science in an accessible, engaging way, turning knowledge into a live experience that sparks curiosity and fun, thereby fostering a love for learning and encouraging critical thinking. The event demonstrated that science can be an enjoyable and inspiring experience when presented interactively, allowing children to explore and discover independently. The Community Center expressed gratitude to all volunteers, staff, partners, and participants for making the festival a success, emphasizing its ongoing commitment to providing diverse learning and creative opportunities for the city's youth.
