Detective Accused of Sexual Harassment, Female Colleague Forced Out

A detective in the Israeli Police's Lahav 433 unit has been indicted for sexually harassing a female detective. However, instead of being removed from his position, the accused detective reportedly received support from his commanders, while the victim was compelled to leave her role and transfer. The indictment was filed in Magistrate's Court.

Initially, the female detective sought medical assistance, but was allegedly labeled a "liar" by medical officials. The Chief Medical Officer later apologized to her. Meanwhile, the accused detective was reportedly backed by his superiors, who expressed their love and support for him.

This case follows several other recent allegations of sexual misconduct within the police force. Last month, a police investigator was questioned by the Police Internal Investigations Department on suspicion of sexual harassment and indecent assault against a woman filing a complaint at a station. He was released with conditions including distance from police facilities and no contact with those involved.

In May, a police officer in the Southern District's control center was investigated for indecent assault against a subordinate. He was suspended for two weeks and barred from contacting the complainant.

In April, a senior officer in Lahav 433 was investigated for alleged sexual offenses against a female officer, including harassment and indecent assault, with the complainant reporting inappropriate touching and coarse language. He was temporarily removed from police facilities pending further investigation.

Just a week prior to that, a police officer in northern Israel was arrested on suspicion of serious sexual offenses, including rape, indecent assault, sexual harassment, extortion, and invasion of privacy.
