Southern District Police Escort Fallen Officers' Children on First Day of School

Hundreds of police officers, combatants, and volunteers were deployed across Israel's Southern District, from Ashdod to Eilat, on the opening day of the academic year. Their mission was to ensure the safety and security of students, educators, and the public near educational institutions and on busy traffic routes.

This year's school opening in the Southern District also focused on supporting and embracing the children of police officers who lost their fathers, either in the October 7th attacks or during their service. The District Commander, Superintendent-General Haim Bublil, along with other senior officers, personally accompanied children of fallen officers on their first day of school, specifically those entering first grade.

During their visits to schools, the commanders met with students, parents, and staff, offering words of encouragement to the children and their families. They assured them that the Israel Police family would continue to stand by their side. Simultaneously, forces worked throughout the district to manage traffic, identify and prevent hazards, maintain public order, and respond swiftly to any unusual incidents, with a particular emphasis on areas surrounding schools and their access roads.

Superintendent-General Bublil stated, "The opening of the school year is a significant and exciting event for students, parents, and educational staff, and this year it carries special meaning for the Israel Police family. Alongside the operational mission to ensure a safe and quiet start to the school year, we are today proudly and excitedly accompanying the children of the officers who fell heroically on October 7th and during their service in the police. It is our duty and privilege to stand by the families and accompany them in these significant moments of their lives. Southern District police officers will continue to act with determination, professionalism, and responsibility for the public's security, in routine and in emergencies."
