Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday rejected conspiracy theories suggesting internal betrayal led to the October 7 Hamas attack, stating, "There was no treason on October 7." This directly contradicts implications made by his wife, Sara Netanyahu, in a recent interview. Benjamin Netanyahu clarified that while there was a "major failure" due to miscalculation and a decision not to alert him to avoid provoking Hamas, it did not constitute treason.

Sara Netanyahu had raised controversy by questioning how Democratic Party leader Yair Golan arrived at the combat zone so early on October 7, implying he had prior knowledge. She stated, "When you are a military man of such a high rank and claim to be a fighter on October 7, you were already there early in the morning, dressed and ready," adding, "At a very, very early hour that others did not know, such as the Prime Minister."

Benjamin Netanyahu did not present evidence supporting the claim that Golan had prior knowledge of the Hamas attack. When directly asked about the treason theory, Sara Netanyahu declined to comment directly but criticized calls for a state inquiry into the October 7 failures.

Yair Golan has demanded a public apology from Sara Netanyahu within 24 hours and threatened a NIS 2.5 million lawsuit for defamation, with damages to be donated to Nova party massacre survivors. His lawyers argued her statements were "defamatory and false slander" portraying him as complicit in treason. Golan's account details his response to the alarms at 6:29 AM, his journey to the Home Front Command, arming himself, and then heading to the Gaza border area where he rescued six young people from the Nova party.

Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the National Unity party, also dismissed the treason theory as a "crazy conspiracy with no factual basis," contrasting those who "didn't wake them up" with those who "got up and charged without asking questions."
