The Dushinsky Hasidic community is mourning the death of Rabbi Refael Binyamin Shisha, a respected scholar and community member, who passed away at the age of 37 after a prolonged and difficult medical struggle. Despite years of suffering, Rabbi Shisha was known for his enduring joy and smile, his deep devotion to his Rebbe, and his commitment to religious observance.

Born to a prominent Dushinsky Hasidic family, Rabbi Shisha underwent a life-saving liver transplant in Germany at the age of 12, a procedure that took place on Yom Kippur and for which the Rebbe of Dushinsky at the time led prayers for his recovery. He recovered and later studied at the Dushinsky yeshiva in Jerusalem. After marrying in 2012, he served as a teacher for young children in Jerusalem and later in Beit Shemesh, where he was deeply loved by his students.

Rabbi Shisha was known for his close ties to the Dushinsky Rebbe, with whom he studied and who visited him multiple times in the United States during his illness. He was also instrumental in establishing a Dushinsky synagogue in his Beit Shemesh neighborhood and was a generous supporter of the community's institutions.

His health deteriorated significantly about four years ago, leading to a recommendation for another liver transplant in the United States. While he faced numerous medical challenges, he bore them with remarkable strength and maintained his cheerful demeanor. Recently, his condition improved, and he began rehabilitation, but he suffered a collapse, was diagnosed with pneumonia, and later an aggressive bacterial infection, leading to organ failure.

Rabbi Shisha is survived by his wife, five young children, his mother, seven brothers, and several brothers-in-law, along with many other relatives and friends. His funeral procession began in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and will continue in Jerusalem.
