During a weekend operation, police officers from the "Ha'Ayrot" station, along with Border Police and the Southern Unit of the "Bacham" (Animal Control Unit), conducted an operation at the home of a man in his 30s in the moshav (agricultural community) of Bror Chayil, in southern Israel. During the search, officers discovered a green monkey held illegally in a cage.

The monkey was rescued and transferred to the care of the Israel Nature and Parks Authority inspectors. It was subsequently moved to the Israeli Monkey Sanctuary for ongoing treatment and medical examinations.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of illegal trade and possession of a protected wild animal. He was later released under restrictive conditions. The police and the Nature and Parks Authority emphasized that keeping monkeys in private homes is prohibited and considered a serious offense, due to the significant harm such animals can suffer, given their complex needs, particularly social ones, which cannot be met by humans.

Both the Israel Police and the Nature and Parks Authority stated they will continue their joint efforts to combat the illegal trade and possession of protected wild animals, ensuring public safety and animal welfare.
