IDF and Shin Bet Destroy Hamas Weapons Caches in Gaza Mosques Linked to October 7 Attacks

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet conducted targeted strikes in the Gaza Strip areas of Shati and Deir al-Balah, destroying two Hamas weapons caches stored inside mosques used as militant hideouts. These caches contained dozens of Kalashnikov rifles, magazines, and other military equipment. Prior to the strikes, warnings were issued to civilians, and precise munitions with aerial surveillance were employed to minimize collateral damage. The IDF condemned Hamas for systematically using civilian infrastructure in violation of international law.

During these operations, the IDF also killed Muhammad Abd al-Nasser Gabr Abu Asad, a Hamas Nukhba commando who participated in the October 7 attacks inside Israel, in Deir al-Balah. Another Nukhba commander involved in the October 7 incursion was eliminated in a separate strike in Khan Yunis. Both militants had recently been orchestrating terror activities against IDF forces and attempting to rebuild Hamas’s operational capabilities despite the ceasefire.

The IDF Southern Command stated that its forces remain deployed in the area under the ceasefire agreement and will continue to act to neutralize any immediate threats posed by Hamas militants.
