Former Maccabi Tel Aviv Center Haciel Rivero Joins Valencia Training Camp After Injury-Hit Season

Haciel Rivero, the Cuban center who left Maccabi Tel Aviv last summer after a strong season, is currently training with Valencia as he seeks a new team. Rivero joined Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) after leaving Maccabi but suffered a severe injury that limited him to just nine EuroLeague games last season. At 32 years old, Rivero has been linked to several clubs but has yet to sign a new contract.

According to Spanish outlet Encestando, Rivero has joined Valencia's training camp ahead of the upcoming season. Valencia was Rivero's first EuroLeague team before he moved to Maccabi Tel Aviv. Although he has not yet received a contract offer from Valencia, a strong performance in training could lead to one.

In his debut EuroLeague season with Valencia, Rivero averaged 9.4 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Last season, his stats dropped to 4.8 points and 1.7 rebounds in under 10 minutes per game during his limited appearances with Crvena Zvezda. His future in the EuroLeague remains uncertain as he aims to prove his fitness and value at Valencia.
