IDF Strikes Building in South Lebanon After Suspected Security Breach

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that forces from the Kfir Brigade under the 91st Division identified several suspects crossing the security zone line near the village of Barashit in southern Lebanon on Friday. The suspects entered a building and posed an immediate threat to IDF troops operating in the area. Following this, the Israeli Air Force, guided by ground forces, precisely struck the building to neutralize the threat while adhering to existing agreements.

The IDF spokesperson emphasized that Israel will not allow the Hezbollah terrorist organization to harm Israeli civilians or soldiers and will continue to act against immediate threats. At the same time, the IDF reaffirmed its commitment to the Israel-Lebanon agreement. This incident adds to a series of recent security events in the southern Lebanon security zone, including the recent elimination of a senior Hezbollah commander from the "Badr" unit near Deir al-Zahrani, in response to an attack on IDF soldiers with an explosive drone.

Tensions also persist around the Ali al-Taher ridge in the Nabatieh district, where the IDF is conducting limited operations to encircle Hezbollah fighters entrenched in a strategic underground complex. Reports indicate dozens of fighters, including senior Iranian Revolutionary Guard officers, are hiding there. These military activities occur amid diplomatic strains between Jerusalem and Washington, with the U.S. State Department recently criticizing Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant's remarks on Israel's continued presence in the area. The U.S. placed full responsibility for the Israeli presence on Hezbollah and highlighted the security zone as the only practical path to peace.

The IDF continues its operational activities in the southern Lebanon security zone, balancing threat prevention with adherence to the Israel-Lebanon agreement to protect Israeli civilians and security forces.
