Hezbollah Escalates Attacks Against IDF Forces in Southern Lebanon

Israeli security forces have observed Hezbollah increasing its attempts to target Israel Defense Forces (IDF) troops operating in southern Lebanon, particularly around the Ali Taher ridge. According to a report by Channel 12, Hezbollah has expanded its tactics to include planting explosive devices against Israeli soldiers. Security officials assess this as a significant escalation that could lead to more substantial attacks, despite Hezbollah's awareness that such moves would provoke a strong Israeli response.

This development occurs amid ongoing Israeli operations to destroy Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon, with Hezbollah responding only minimally so far. The situation remains tense, with diplomatic efforts continuing in the region. A security source warned that the current temporary calm in northern Israel is deceptive and could be disrupted, possibly influenced by external actors, and preparations are underway accordingly.

Separately, a Hezbollah-affiliated source told Saudi Al Hadath channel that the group has no intention of handing over control of the Ali Taher ridge to the Lebanese army. The source stated it is preferable for Israel to destroy the area rather than transfer it to Lebanese forces, emphasizing the presence of significant Hezbollah facilities there. These installations, some interconnected and others separate, hold both military and symbolic importance for Hezbollah.
