Indictment Filed Against 17-Year-Old in Double Murder of Olga and Ruslan Priedhodko
State prosecutors on Monday filed a severe indictment in the Central District Juvenile Court against a 17-year-old from Lod, charging him with the intentional murder under aggravated circumstances of Olga and Ruslan Priedhodko. The case centers on the killing of the couple during a dispute over antiquities and metal detectors, according to the indictment.
Prosecutors say the teen bought a Glock pistol about six months before the attack for NIS 25,000 and practiced firing it. Ruslan Priedhodko, who searched for antiquities, first met the suspect in a forest near Ein Vered spring, where they spoke about antiquities. The next day, Ruslan and Olga returned to the forest and met him again. A dispute then broke out over antiquities and the teen's demand for the metal detectors, and he decided to kill them.
The suspect left on a quad bike, retrieved the gun from a farm, and returned to the forest after the couple had gotten back into their car and were preparing to leave. He approached the open window and shot Ruslan in the head, then immediately shot Olga in the head. He then stole two metal detectors, phones, and credit cards from the car, threw the phone and bag near the vehicle, and fled. Hikers later found the bodies, and death was pronounced at the scene.
Afterward, he hid the gun and allegedly tried to obscure his identity by asking a friend from Judea and Samaria to move the vehicle there, but that plan was not carried out. The indictment includes murder, carrying a weapon, shooting, robbery, and obstruction of justice, and prosecutors are asking that he remain in custody until the end of proceedings. A separate indictment was also filed against two illegal residents for unlawful entry and stay in Israel and carrying a weapon, with one of them also accused of firing a gun. The case was investigated by the Shin Bet and the Central District police's major crimes unit.
