State prosecutors on Monday filed an indictment in the Central District Juvenile Court against a 17-year-old from Lod for the aggravated intentional murder of Olga and Ruslan Frihudko. Prosecutors also asked the court to keep him in custody until the end of proceedings.

According to the indictment submitted by attorney Shahaf Klinman Shimoni of the Central District Prosecutor’s Office, the teenager bought a loaded Glock handgun about six months before the attack for 25,000 shekels, hid it at a family farm where he lived, and practiced shooting with it on several occasions. Ruslan, who collected antiques as a hobby, had met the teen in a forest near Ein Vered while searching for artifacts with metal detectors, and the two spoke about antiques. The next morning Ruslan returned with his wife Olga, and the three met again.

A dispute then broke out over the antiques and the teen’s demand to take the metal detectors. After the argument, he decided to kill the couple. He rode away on an all-terrain vehicle, retrieved the pistol from the farm, and came back to the forest. The couple were already in their car and preparing to leave when he approached to within about two meters of the open window next to Ruslan, fired one shot into his head, and then immediately shot Olga in the head.

While the couple were bleeding, the teen stole two metal detectors, phones, and credit cards from the car, then left the scene and discarded the phone and bag near the vehicle. He hid the gun and magazine at his residence. The couple were later found by hikers, and their deaths were pronounced at the scene. Prosecutors say he later tried to cover his tracks by calling a friend from the West Bank and asking for help moving the car there, but the plan never happened.
