Indictment Expected Against Teen in Murder of Olga and Ruslan Frihudo
Central District prosecutors are expected to file an indictment on Monday against a teenage resident of central Israel for the murder of Olga and Ruslan Frihudo, who were found dead in their car near Mevo Horon on May 22. The case was investigated jointly by the Central District police’s major crimes unit and the Shin Bet, and investigators examined all possible leads, including whether this was a nationalist terror attack.
The evidence eventually ruled out a nationalist motive and strengthened the assessment that the killings were criminal in nature. Police said the suspect knew the victims beforehand. After the murders, he allegedly tried to cover up his role by attempting to use the couple’s credit cards, hiding the weapon believed to have been used in the killing, and taking other steps to obstruct the investigation.
Investigators later located the murder weapon. The suspect also took part in a nighttime reconstruction, during which he pointed out his route of travel and the stages of the alleged crimes. In parallel, indictments are also set to be filed against two residents of the West Bank for firearms offenses and illegal entry into Israel, after investigators determined they had access to the weapon used in the murder.
