South District prosecutors filed a serious indictment on Sunday against a 17-year-old boy, in the Beersheba District Court sitting as a juvenile court, over robbery and attempted robbery charges. They also asked that he remain detained until the end of legal proceedings.
The case stems from a violent incident at a bus stop in the Negev village of Segev Shalom about two weeks ago. Police from the Segev Shalom station in the Ramat Negev area opened an investigation, gathered evidence, identified the suspect, a local 17-year-old, and arrested him for questioning.
According to the police investigation, the teen threatened three boys aged 14 and 15 with a gun and demanded their mobile phones. During the attack, he struck one of the boys with the weapon and caused significant injuries, including a cut to the face, bleeding above the right eyebrow, and bloody scratches on the shoulder and chest.
Under the threats, one of the victims handed over his phone. After the investigation and evidence review were completed, prosecutors brought the indictment and detention request. Segev Shalom station commander Chief Superintendent Eli Cohen said police are acting with determination and zero tolerance against violent crime, especially when the victims are minors, and will continue to locate offenders, build evidence, and bring them to justice.
