Hapoel Jerusalem Negotiating With Veteran Guard Jaleen Smith
Hapoel Jerusalem has begun planning for next season after being eliminated in the playoff semifinals. The club has already formally parted ways with Yonatan Alon and is expected to announce Sasha Obradovic as its new head coach in the coming days.
In the meantime, the Jerusalem team has identified a major target for its backcourt, American-Croatian guard Jaleen Smith, 30, who stands 1.93 meters tall. Smith is in talks with the Israeli side and brings extensive experience in European basketball.
Last season, Smith played for Turk Telekom and stood out in EuroCup competition. He was especially impressive in the quarterfinals, when the Turkish club produced a dramatic win over Hapoel Jerusalem, the same team now pursuing him.
