IDF Kills Hamas Commander Involved in October Massacre and Hostage Holding in Gaza
Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) conducted a targeted strike in the central Gaza Strip area of Nuzirat, killing Hamas military wing commander Sabhi Sami Mahmoud Shahatot. Shahatot played an active role in the brutal October 7 massacre inside Israeli territory and was directly involved in holding numerous Israeli hostages captive during the subsequent fighting. He also participated in the release ceremonies of some captives, handing them over to Red Cross representatives. Israeli security officials noted that recently Shahatot was working to develop new terror plans aimed at attacking IDF forces operating in Gaza and Israeli civilians. This operation marks another significant counterterrorism action by the IDF in Gaza amid ongoing hostilities.
